3 LPE coating on welded steel pipes

The properties of a 3 LPE coating were investigated and compared with the properties of other plastic coatings. The results showed that the 3 LPE coating was the best anticorrosive protection for welded steel pipes. The main advantages were its high mechanical and electrical resistance and high adhesion strength. Another advantage was the softness of the polyethylene during application which enabled it to fill the weld surface perfectly. This cannot be achieved in wet or dry coating of coiled polyethylene strips.

JES Use of high aspect ratio contact structures with electroplated gold interconnects on state-of-the-art bipolar ICs requires very high performance diffusion barriers. In present work, these are obtained by adding N2 to sputtering ambient and optimizing substrate temp. during deposition. This results in performance not obtainable previously with this system.

3-D profilometries of vacuum plasma sprayed nickel-based alloy splats using scanning mechanical microscopy

Relationships between processing parameters and deposit microstructures are not well understood owing to numerous parameters affecting thermal spraying and random deposition mode of material. Interactions are directly related to impact and spreading of material droplets on substrate or previously deposited layers. Thicknesses of splats of vacuum plasma sprayed Ni based alloy (e.g. Astroloy) were determined by experimental measurements using scanning mechanical microscope. 3-dimensional profiles of splats sprayed with different processing parameters were collected and showed that splats produced with 90° spray angle exhibit near constant thickness along random cross-section, while splats produced with off normal spray angle exhibit thickness evolution following impact direction. In case of normal spray angle, splat thickness is function of initial particle diam. and spray parameter set.

Currently used methods incl. 2D injection moulding with subsequent metallisation, as well as hot-pressing of metal foils. Most recently, rear-side spraying of foils with printed circuit board tracks has been employed. The Baymetec process uses special primers to apply the image to the foil surface. The primers contain catalysts which enable subsequent metallisation of the pcb tracks using a simple electrodeposition process.

Title cmpd can be used as inhibitor for ferrous & non-ferrous pickling. In example, hevily scaled carbon steel pipes were pickled in 50% sulphuric acid at 80°C with 0.1% added inhibitor. Corrosion rate was 980 gm/square metre/hr without, 3.8 gm with inhibitor add'n.
